New Leadership - Your Voice on the Dutchess County Legislature
Dear Neighbor,
Hello, my name is Noreen Mills Martin and I’ve lived in the City of Poughkeepsie for over 36 years. I am seeking your vote for the Dutchess County Legislature District 8 representing parts of both the City and Town of Poughkeepsie. For the last 26 years I have resided at 17 Merrick Road where my husband Keith and I raised our son.
I am a Teacher at Arlington High School where I teach United States History and Government and Participation in Government. I am not just a proud NYSUT Union member. For the last 20 years, I have been the Senior Building Rep for my school representing 200+ teachers in the Arlington Teachers Association. I believe in Union Strong, I live it each day. I work for my fellow teachers. I support them.
Throughout my adult life I have served my community. I currently am a volunteer for the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. For over a decade I volunteered for the City of Poughkeepsie Little League. For 16 years I volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader. Over ten years my husband and I were adult advisors for Youth Groups at both Holy Trinity and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Churches. I have been a Eucharistic Minister at Mt. Carmel since 1988.
I am a 1980 graduate of Marist College, in 1986 I received my Master’s Degree from SUNY New Paltz, and I achieved a post graduate PD degree from Fordham University in 1993. I have a passion for government and teach United States History and Government and Participation in Government, as well as the DCC course GOV 121 at Arlington High School.
In 1997, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. I battled the odds to survive an unfavorable diagnosis. I will use the same strength and fight to work for you my neighbors. I am a fighter willing to battle for you and the future of our community.
I am very interested in knowing your concerns about our county.
I want to be YOUR VOICE on the County Legislature.
